‘Power Rangers’ Fans Are Raising Money To Help Lord Zedd Actor Robert Axelrod After Surgical Complications

Voice actor Robert Axelrod dubbed the roles of Lord Zedd and Finster on ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ but is now in need of a rescue of his own.  Austin St. John, the actor who played the original Red Ranger, Jason, posted a message on Twitter asking fans to Axelrod, who recently underwent back surgery only to suffer some pretty serious complications.  A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to help raise money, as Axelrod is unable to work presently.

The campaign is already a pretty rousing success.  Its goal is to amass $10,000 and in just three days they have received $8,000.  Those interested can donate as little as $1 and are also encouraged to post messages of encouragement and any photos taken with Alxelrod at conventions or elsewhere.  To donate, you can click here or on the link in St. John’s post.

From the campaign’s homepage:

Iconic villain, Robert Axelrod who voiced Lord Zedd & Finster in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers recently had a major back operation. Unfortunately, he suffered complications from the surgery. He is currently recovering and unable to work. Please donate what you can to aide Robert during this difficult time.

When you donate or even if you are unable to help financially please post a message to this campaign for Robert to see. Better yet post a message and a photo of you and Robert if you have one. He has always enjoyed meeting his fans and hearing your stories.

Axelrod voiced Finster, the creator of Rita Repulsa’s monsters, starting with the first season of ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’, before adding the voice of Big Bad, Lord Zedd starting with Season Two.  Lord Zedd was a rare figure, as he was created strictly for the American version of ‘Power Rangers’ and did not originate in the original Japanese ‘Super Sentai’ series.
